Greetings:

On behalf of the Washington DC Metro Chapter, National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NAASC), we introduce our new initiative, “Friends of The Washington DC Metro Chapter, NAASC”.

“Friends of The Washington DC Metro Chapter, NAASC” is directed to those who are not alumnae of Spelman College, but would like to make a donation supporting the needs of our chapter and Spelman College. To participate in this initiative, an annual donation of $20 is required which would support operational and program needs of our chapter with the following activities, including, but not limited to:

• Jane Hope Lyons Scholarship - $1500 scholarship awarded to one Washington, DC student selected by Spelman College;

• Golden Girl Book Scholarship - bestowed upon a rising Spelman freshman from the Washington, DC Area;

• Loving Me Girls’ Conference - for girls in grades 8 - 11 to teach them how to recognize and appreciate their unique beauty, build sisterhood, use positive forms of expression, and develop their professionalism; and

• Many more local initiatives.

In recent years, our chapter has provided over $4000 in scholarship and has positively impacted the lives of more than 160 young girls through the annual “Loving Me Girls’ Conference. With you, we can do so much more to support the next generation of Spelman women. Your involvement and participation is greatly appreciated. We want to maintain contact with you and keep you aware of the chapter’s upcoming events and activities. Please consider this initiative a worthy cause and join us in our community efforts.
